It all began with a very very long message from Calvin to Christy on an app many of you may have heard of - Hinge, and from that message, Christy recognized Calvin might just be that tattooed, midwest, genuine hunk she had always been looking for. Calvin wasted no time, he listened to Christy’s plea on hinge to “skipping the small talk and going on a date” - thank you, Kelli Watkins... and they were set to meet the next day.

 

Their first date set the tone immediately: cocktails at Genuine, games at Cobra Arcade, and meeting Christy’s animals, who Calvin loved instantly. Within the first week of seeing each other, Calvin met her parents, and it was clear this was moving fast in the best way.

 

Early on, life tested them. Just two days after they met, Christy’s beloved dog Bear passed away unexpectedly. Showing up for her during that moment, bringing flowers, putting together backyard furniture, and remembering Starbucks orders became one of those quiet turning points that mattered more than any grand gesture.

 

Since then, they’ve built a life that’s always in motion. They’ve traveled the world, embraced new experiences, and leaned into the things that matter most to them, especially their shared love for animals. Today, Roo, Alfie, Teddy, and the cats are at the center of their home, and they continue to volunteer their time helping euthanasia listed shelter dogs whenever possible.

 

Always on the move and loving life together, they’ve learned that the best moments aren’t the destinations themselves, but who you share them with.
